TAKE ACTION ON PUBLIC EDUCATION

ACTION United is joining Education Voters and allies for a statewide "Call" to Action for Public Education next week on Monday, December 5th.  Thousands of people will set aside 5 minutes to call their local State Representatives and Senators, and our Governor with a short message about education being our highest priority as taxpayers and voters. Take ACTION on Paid Sick Days

There are over 200,000 workers in Philadelphia without earned sick time.  No one should be forced to choose between going to work sick or losing a day's pay!  Going to work sick spreads illness and results in decreased productivity across the board.  But for many workers staying home results in lost wages and real hardship.  Please take a minute to send an email to your City Council Person and ask them to support the Promoting Healthy Families and Workplaces Act, Bill No. 080474 which would help families, help workplace productivity and reduce the spread of disease.

Reforming Education in Philadelphia

ACTION United members want attention and resources focused on improving our city's worst-performing schools.  These schools need fundamental change, accomplished with careful planning, community engagement, and rigorous accountability, as well as increased resources.  Join us in asking Superintendent Ackerman and the School Reform Commission to meet with us to discuss the dire need for this reform in our communities.  Send our letter or write your own telling them that we need MORE input from the community on this critical process. Tell them we need them to show up at our community meeting on December 7th to talk about this issue.

Protecting health care reform

As the 6 month anniversary of the Care Act puts into effect the first set of needed reforms to protect our access to affordable health care, PA Attorney General moves ahead with a lawsuit to block reform. We want to send Corbett a message that he needs to STOP this lawsuit he is perpetrating in the name of Pennsylvanians.  TAKE ACTION!  We are sending emails to  Corbett to express our dismay that he is using  OUR name and OUR tax dollars to go against  OUR wishes.  Click here to send him an email  and add your voice!

Strengthening Social Security

We must all stand together to keep our Guaranteed Social Security Benefits from being Gambled on Wall Street! Just remember what they did with our mortgage money!  Please sign our petition to keep the Social Security Promise for all Generations!
